Morgantown, W.Va. — The 2014 National Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey National Kickoff Event will take place on Friday, October 17 at the National Mall in Washington, DC. More than 10,000 attendees are anticipated for the event, which is expected to be the largest Odyssey kickoff event to date.

The 2014 National AFV Day Odyssey event and promotional campaign will be centered on the event slogan – Driving Toward a Clean, Secure Energy Future.

“The kickoff event serves as the ‘heart’ of the nationwide and international events taking place,” said Judy Moore, NAFTC assistant director – communications and outreach. “This event will be only one of 100+ events, all working together to promote alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.”

The 2014 kickoff event will be co-hosted with the NAFTC by the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities (GWRCC), and working in partnership with the U.S. National Parks Service, Smithsonian Institute, and AmeriCorps NCCC. The Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) will also attend.

Odyssey event attendees across the country will have the opportunity to speak with industry experts and view numerous displays and alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles, including biodiesel; ethanol; natural gas; propane; hydrogen; and electric drive. The numerous green transportation-related events are coordinated and hosted by NAFTC members, U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities coalitions, and others who believe in cleaner, more energy efficient forms of transportation.

National AFV Day Odyssey Kickoff Event sponsorship opportunities will be available in the coming weeks. For complete Odyssey information, visit the event website.
