MEMO TO MORGANTOWN FACULTY, STAFF, STUDENTS
WVU’s Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) is currently immersed in a phased multi-million dollar modernization plan. With the modernization of the PRT, it is necessary to shut down Saturday service (except during certain special events) so we can provide the vendor with ample time to do testing on the new automatic train controls (ATC) system and continue with software development.
Saturday service will be shut down starting January 23. Our weekday schedule needs to be adjusted as well during the remainder of the 2016 spring semester. Beginning January 25, the new hours of operation for the PRT will be 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. weekdays.
During weekdays, WVU transportation services will operate buses from 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. prior to PRT passenger service start time and then again from 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. after the PRT has closed. Blue & Gold, Campus PM, Valley View, West Run, Tyrone, and Red Line routes will continue to operate per their normal schedules for the 2016 spring semester.
On Saturday’s, WVU transportation service will operate buses from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. while the PRT is not in service. Passengers can also utilize the Mountain Line bus service that operates on Saturday. Mountain Line bus schedules and routes can be accessed online at busride.org/Maps-Schedules/WVU-Campus-Services or download their mobile app at busride.org/Rider-Guide/Rider-Tools/Bus-Finder-Mobile-App. WVU bus schedule and routes can be viewed at transportation.wvu.edu/prt/wvu-bus-schedule.
Please be assured that adequate service will be provided to supplement the loss of the PRT during this time. We appreciate your patience and look forward to serving your transportation needs.
