Morgantown, W.Va. — WVU’s Office of International Programs now provides travel insurance with all university related international travel. This policy includes medical and travel assistance coverage. All WVU travelers will now be covered through International SOS and University Health Plans. This means that all official travelers will be covered by completing the mandatory registration process. This coverage is provided at no additional cost, but all travelers must use the comprehensive policy provided by International SOS. International SOS, our international emergency assistance provider, is happy to field any travel questions before departure and during stays abroad. They will be the first contact in case of emergency while abroad. They will alert WVU of any emergencies and will work with the insurance provider on all claims. For more information, contact the Office of International Programs at 304-293-6955 or visit this link.

Re:  Mandatory registration required by all WVU staff for international travel

Recently, you have received an announcement on behalf of the Provost Office in connection to West Virginia University’s policies and procedures for international travel.

Many of us, in the Research offices, travel outside of the United States in conjunction to various research projects.  The new mandatory registration for all international travel  is located at through the Office of International Programs.

With time considerations in mind for our faculty, staff, and students, this is a “one stop shop.”  Registration is easy and convenient.  The registration also provides travel insurance that includes medical and travel assistance coverage.  This coverage is provided at no additional cost.  More information is available to you at the time of registration.

This “one stop shop” also contains questions and information pertaining to export control.  The new registration integrates questions that are relevant to export control and replaces the need to register with export control that was previously required for travel.

We are anticipating this new registration will provide ease for all of our international travelers.  We encourage all of our international travelers to visit the above referenced website or contact the Office of International Programs directly at 304-293-6955.  Further information about export control can be accessed at or contact the office directly at 304-293-3084.

If you have any questions that your REBO DCC can assist with, such as notification to Citibank with the countries that you will be visiting, or anticipating a need for an increase to your PCard limits due to travel, please call us.

We look forward to our continued and successful working relationships with each of you.
